The Battle of Khasdour took place in the Eleşkirt Valley, where the Armenian fighters from Transcaucasia engaged with the Turkish army units. Armenians defended themselves well, eventually making a path between the Turkish forces to escape[citation needed].
In the Ahlat region, for several years, the mountains were controlled by[citation needed] Serop Aghbyur, until 1899 when together with 12 of his men, died in a fight with 1,500 Turkish soldiers[citation needed].
