Battle of Kamberhöyüğü (Turkish: Kamberhöyüğü Muharebesi) Was a battle between Turkish National Movement and France, took place on July 27, 1920, on the southern front under French occupation during the War of Independence.

Events[]

The French, who were defeated by the Tarsus Vineyards Offensive, were completely cut off from Mersin and Adana, were unable to receive help from any side, and all their hopes were crushed when they were surrounded in Tarsus. In addition, the French soldiers were extremely demoralized.[4]

After the Battle of Bağlar, Turkish National Forces advanced close to Adana and even the Adana-Mersin road was under the control of the National Forces. The French, who were in a difficult situation, asked for help from Adana, and the Çeliktaş detachment, which received the help at Kamberhöyük, was martyred along with their commander Molla Kerim as a result of an unfortunate accident (27 July 1920). Later, the French recaptured the Adana-Mersin road and entered the city of Tarsus on the night of 28/29 July 1920, saving their forces there from the siege.[5]
