Assistant Commandant is a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) rank and Group-A Gazetted Officer in the Central Armed Police Forces of India. 50% of ACs are appointed directly through UPSC selection process[1] and are called Directly Appointed Gazetted Officers (DAGO).[2] These officers can reach up to the ranks of IG and ADG[3] in their own organisations without having conferred to the Indian Police Service.
