Major-General Thomas Anthony Boam CB CBE (born 1932) was Commander of British Forces in Hong Kong.
Military career[]
Boam was commissioned into the Scots Guards in 1952.[1] He was deployed to Northern Ireland and was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his services there in 1973.[2]
In 1981 he was appointed Head of the British Defence Staff in Washington D.C.[3] and in 1985 he was appointed Commander of British Forces in Hong Kong[4] and in that capacity hosted a visit by Princess Margaret.[5] He retired in 1987.[6]
He lives in Pulborough in West Sussex.[7]
