Lt. Gen. Andrew J. Boyle

Andrew Jackson "Jack" Boyle (December 11, 1911 - March 15, 2001) was a United States Army Lieutenant General.

Early life

Jack was born on December 11, 1911 in Pennsylvania to Elmer and Monica Boyle. He lived and grew up in Baltimore, Maryland.

Major military assignments

He enlisted and served in the United States Army from June 28, 1927 to July 3, 1928 and again from April 10, 1930 to June 12, 1931. In 1931 he was appointed the United States Military Academy by the Maryland National Guard and graduated on June 12, 1935 with a commission in the Cavalry (ASN: 0-19924).

He retired as a Lieutenant General on July 31, 1970. His military decorations included the Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters.

Dates of Rank

Rank of Colonel was terminated on December May 31, 1946 and his rank was returned to Lieutenant Colonel.

Post military career

He served as the first chairman of the Culpeper County Planning Commission (Virginia), and was a member of the Board of Trustees of a local hospital and the Piedmont Environmental Council.

Education

Personal life

He married Elaine E. White and together they had a son (Andrew Boyle, Jr.). His wife passed away in 2006.

Death

Jack passed away on March 15, 2001 in Culpeper, Virginia at the age of 89. He was buried in on Little Fork Burying Grounds in Rixeyville, Virginia.
