Abdul Jabbar al-Oqaidi (also spelled al-Aqidi) is a commander of the Free Syrian Army. He was a former Colonel in the Syrian Arab Army who defected in early 2012. He is the commander of, and a spokesman for the Free Syrian Army in Aleppo, the main armed rebel forces operating in Syria during the Syrian civil war.[1][2][3] He joined the Free Syrian Army after defecting from the Syrian army in early 2012.[1][4][5][6] On November 3, 2013, he announced his resignation from the Aleppo Revolutionary Military Council due to disunity among the rebels and constant retreats from battles; including al-Safira.[7]
