AFP Cadre Battalion is the term used by the Armed Forces of the Philippines in organizing the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit into a basic combat unit attached to a regular infantry or maneuver division particularly that of the Philippine Army. CAFGU personnel despite being under reserve or inactive status, considered called to active duty and may participate in combat operations in their particular territorial base. Similarly, a hybrid variant of the Cadre Battalion, which incorporates Army Reservists to the actual combat unit or cadre battalion. Cadre Battalions are territorial based and not easily transferrable as compared to regular battalions.

Organization[]

Cadre battalions are commanded by regular commissioned officers of the AFP which are supported by regular non-commissioned officers.[1][2] In some units, like in the case of the 24IB(C), reserve officers and non-commissioned officers who are called to active duty exercise command and control over the CAFGU units.[3]
