A. Uberti, Srl. is an Italian manufacturer of replica American firearms located in a suburb of Brescia, Italy called Gardone V.T. along with other firearm manufacturers and similar craft businesses. Independent for many years, Uberti was purchased and made into a subsidiary of Beretta Firearms and subsequently acquired by the Benelli company.
Uberti produces high quality replicas of 18th and 19th century American percussion revolvers, muskets, and rifles, as well as cartridge revolvers, single-shot rifles, and lever-action rifles. These replicas are commonly used historical re-enactors, participants in action shooting sports such as cowboy action shooting, and target shooters who prefer early style firearms. These high quality replicas are also sought after by collectors and historical firearm enthusiasts.
History and origins[]
Aldo Uberti founded his company in the foothills of the Italian Alps in 1959 to recreate the famous firearms of the past. He first made the Colt-designed black powder revolvers and later moved on to Remington and Winchester designs. It was during this era that Colt ceased production of their famous Single Action Army or "Peacemaker" revolvers. In 1960, Italian movie director, Sergio Leone, came to consult Aldo Uberti to find the Old West guns he needed for what would become known as “spaghetti westerns”. These movies would also promote worldwide interest in the guns of the American West.
Current production[]
Today, Uberti targets collectors, cowboy action shooters, and civil war skirmishers. Uberti also produce frames, cylinders, and barrels for several other companies like Beretta (formerly their parent company), Cimarron Firearms, Taurus, Charles Daly, and Navy Arms.
Products made by the company are offered under both the Uberti and Benelli brand names.
Business units and corporate ownership[]
A US subdivision is located in Accokeek, Maryland.
