The 6th Siberian Rifle Division was a Division of the Imperial Russian Army. The division was active during World War I, but later mutinied following the February Revolution.

History[]

The 6th Siberian Rifle Division were originally formed sometimes before 1900 as the 2nd East Siberian Infantry Brigade. In July 1900 the brigade was renamed as the 6th East Siberian Rifle Brigade. In 1904 it was again renamed to 6th East Siberian Rifle Division and six years later becoming the 6th Siberian Rifle Division. Just before the outbreak of World War I the division was under the 5th Siberian Army Corps stationed in Khabarovsk.

In Mid-January 1917, the division mutinied and joined the Bolshevik Cause, this was the effective disbandment of the division. In December of the same year, as the Russian Civil War was starting, the division was reformed as the 6th Siberian Division as part of the White Army.
