The 52nd Artillery Brigade (52-я Артиллерийская бригада) was an artillery regiment of the Imperial Russian Army. The regiment was formed after the 1910 reforms to the army, and stayed around until 1918, after the October Revolution.
History[]
In 1910, the 52nd Artillery Regiment was formed and had the following structure:
- Regimental Headquarters
- 1st Division (Battalion Sized)
- 1st Battery - Former 4th Battery from 20th Artillery Brigade
- 2nd Battery - Former 5th Battery from 20th Artillery Brigade
- 3rd Battery - Former 6th Battery from 20th Artillery Brigade
- 2nd Division (Battalion Sized) - Formed from batteries from the former Siberian Reserve Mountain Division.
- 4th Mountain Battery - Former 1st Mountain Battery
- 5th Mountain Battery - Former 2nd Mountain Battery
- 6th Mountain Battery - Former 3rd Mountain Battery
Upon formation, the regiment was assigned to the 3rd Caucasus Army Corps and was based at the Caucasian Military Institution in Temir-Khan-Shura. Following the reorganisations by 1914, the regiment was assigned as the divisional artillery for the 52nd Infantry Division.
Upon mobilisation, each division had the following structure:
- Division Headquarters
- Signal Troop
- Reconnaissance Troop
- x3 Batteries
- 1st Line Transport
- 2nd Line Transport
During World War I, the regiment (under the 52nd division) was assigned to the following: 3rd Kawaz Army Corps and finally 3rd Caucasus Army Corps. Finally, following the October Revolution, the regiment was disbanded and its lineage wasn't continued.
