The 4th Naval Construction Battalion (Reserve), formerly known as the 4th Seabees, is one of the Construction Battalions of the Philippine Navy Naval Construction Brigade and is under the administrative control of the Philippine Navy Reserve Command, which is organic to the Naval Reserve Center - National Capital Region. It is a naval engineer unit, and specializes in Urban Operations, disaster relief, and Civil Military Operations.
Its area of responsibility encompasses the entire National Capital Region and Greater Manila Area.
History[]
The 4th Naval Construction Battalion (Reserve) was initially created as a Philippine Navy Affiliate Reserve Unit in 2003. It was originally composed of volunteer engineers and construction workers of the Isometric Builders and Land Developers Corporation. Corporate president Arturo N Interior was then appointed as its Battalion Commander.[1]
Until now, the unit still prides itself as the only Naval Construction Battalion (Reserve) in existence.[1]
Mission[]
- Base for expansion of the Regular Force in the event of war, invasion or rebellion within its AOP.[2]
- Assist the Government in Relief and Rescue Operations in the event of Calamities or Disasters.[3]
- Assist the Government in Socio-economic development and environmental concerns.[4]
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of essential government and private utilies (e.g. power, telecommunications, water).[2]
