Lineage[]
The 415th Military Intelligence Battalion was organised and federally recognised on 1 December 1989 in the Louisiana Army National Guard. The new battalion was headquartered in Baton Rouge with a detachment in New Orleans. As part of the modular reorganisation of the United States Army from 2005, the battalion's role changed from an intelligence gathering to an interrogation role. The designation was subsequently changed to the 415th Military Intelligence Battalion (Interrogation). The battalion (less Detachment 1, A Company) moved to Carville and joined the 139th Regional Support Group.[1][2][3][4]
In 2008, A Company deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.[5]
As of March 2024, the battalion's structure is as follows:[1][4]
- Headquarters & Support Company, in Carville
- A Company, in Carville
- Detachment 1, in New Orleans
- B Company, in Carville
- C Company, in Carville
- 756th Medical Company (Area Support)
For administrative purposes, the battalion is part of the Louisiana National Guard's 139th Regional Support Group, but is operationally aligned to the 300th Military Intelligence Brigade.[4]
