The 1st Uman Cossacks (1-е уманские казаки) was a former cossack regiment of the Imperial Russian Army.
Formation[]
The regiment was originally formed on 3 July 1778 when former separate cavalry units were merged to form the Ekaterinoslav Cossack Army. In 1796 the army was disembodied and most members settles in the Kuban area. In 1803 a new Kuban regiment was formed, hence the Caucasian Cossack Regiment was formed. In 1845 it was renamed to become the 1st Caucasian Cossack Regiment. In 1861 the regiment became the 1st Uman Cossacks (10th Regiment of the Kuban Army).
