The 1st Technical & Administrative Services Brigade (Reserve),[1][2] known officially as First TAS, is one of seven TAS units of the Technical Services Reserve Group of the AFP Reserve Command, and is based in Quezon City. The unit provides combat support and service support services to AFP Reserve Force Maneuver Units operating within the National Capital Region particularly Army Reserve Units of the 15th Infantry Division (Ready Reserve) of the Army Reserve Command.

Being a technical unit means the unit must rely on force protection assistance from maneuver units within its AOR and that it provides engineering, medical, legal, and religious services required by these AFP Reserve Force Maneuver Units.

History[]

The technical service brigade (reserve) was activated on February 12, 1999, pursuant to GHQ-AFP General Orders Nr. 36. The Operational control of the unit was then transferred to the Office of the Commander, Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserve Command on August 25, 1999 by virtue of GHQ-AFP General Orders Nr. 219.[3]

Mission[]

1st TAS Brigade

Officers and Enlisted Personnel of the 1st TAS Brigade conduct Disaster Response Drills at Camp Aguinaldo.

  • Base for expansion of the Regular Force in the event of war, invasion or rebellion within its AOP.
  • Assist the Government in Relief and Rescue Operations in the event of Calamities or Disasters.[4]
  • Assist the Government in Socio-economic development and environmental concerns.[5]
  • Assist in the operation & maintenance of essential government and private utilies (e.g. power, telecommunications, water).
