The 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines is an infantry battalion of the United States Marine Corps subordinated to the 2nd Marine Regiment of the 2nd Marine division. The 1st Battalion of the 2nd Marine regiment served in the pacific theatre of the WWII, Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, half of they continues in Iraq, the other half was replaced by the 1st Battalion 8th Marines.
