16 Field Battery along with fellow Tasmanian Unit 12/40th Battalion Royal Tasmania Regiment (12/40 RTR) are both part of the Adelaide-based 9 Brigade.
16 Fd Bty is to provide 9 Bde Joint Offensive Support to 9 Bde IOT reinforce 1 Bde (Robertson Barracks).
16 Fd Bty has converted from 105mm M2A2 to F2 81mm Mortars. Although the Bty has converted it remains a RAA Unit and carries the heritage of the 6th Field Regiment.
