The 15th Infantry Brigade (Greek: 15η Ταξιαρχία Πεζικού, 15η ΤΑΞΠΖ) is an infantry brigade of the Hellenic Army. Headquartered in Kastoria and subordinated to the I Army Corps, it was formed from the former 15th Infantry Division (ΧV Μεραρχία Πεζικού) on 1 April 1998.
History[]
The 15th Infantry Division was originally formed on 6 November 1940 after the mobilization due to the Greco-Italian War, and fought in the Koritsa Sector on the Albanian front until the Greek capitulation following the German invasion of Greece in April 1941. It was re-established in June 1946, and participated in the Greek Civil War under the command of II Army Corps. It gradually evolved into its present motorized, Mihanopoiimeno (Greek: Mηχανοποιημένο, M/Π), role after it was re-formed as a brigade.
