The 110th Chemical Battalion is a chemical warfare defence battalion of the United States Army currently serving as part of both the 555th Engineer Brigade and 48th Chemical Brigade and is based at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Organisation[]

The current organisation of the battalion is as follows;

  • 110th Chemical Battalion Headquarters and Headquarters Company
  • A Company (Technical Escort)—former 9th Chemical Company
  • B Company (Technical Escort)—former 11th Chemical Company
  • C Company (only activated for deployment)—former 172nd Chemical Company

Lineage[]

  • Constituted 11 July 1942 in the Army of the United States as the 33rd Chemical (Decontamination) Company
  • Activated 5 January 1954 in Okinawa
    • Inactivated 28 December 1954 in Okinawa
  • Re-designated 9 July 2004 as 110th Chemical Battalion, and organic elements concurrently constituted
    • Battalion activated 17 September 2005 at Fort Lewis, Washington
    • 2015 companies re-titled as lettered companies and C company deactivated unless deployed
