105th Battalion (Prince Edward Island Highlanders), CEF
Active 1915-1918
Country Canada

105th Battalion (Prince Edward Island Highlanders), CEF was recruited through the 82nd Regiment based out of Charlottetown, P.E.I.

In September 1915 recruiting began to form a reinforcement company to be sent overseas. Due to the rapid response to this recruiting drive, it was considered possible to raise an entire battalion from the island.

Mobilization was authorized on 3 December 1915, and by 15 March 1916, was completed. After training at Valcartier the unit sailed from Halifax on board S.S. Empress of Britain on 16 July 1916. The strength of the 105th Battalion leaving Canada was 37 Officers, 1,107 other ranks, commanded by Lieut. Col. A.E. Ings.

It was eventually absorbed by the 104th Battalion, which itself was eventually absorbed by the 13th Reserve Battalion.

The 105th Battalion (Prince Edward Island Highlanders), CEF is perpetuated by The Prince Edward Island Regiment (RCAC).[1]
